I have some questions about the musical, Fiddler on the Roof?

My high school is doing this next year and I don't know much about it. Please give me a description of the plot? And I would really love to be one of the 3 sisters. Hodel, Chava, and Tzeital. Which one sings the most? I have been leads before with songs. I'm a soprano :) Who sings Far from the Home I Love? I like that song; it is really pretty. Thanks for your answers!!
