Why would anyone choose to worship Jesus (Piety/Modesty) over Dionysus (Wine/Revelry)?

Honestly...were they thinking back in the day? Why p on 5 drunken orgiastic raves per month, for a repressive society and lame 1 hour m? (If dionysianism was around today, I'd def be a religious person)
