Are my copyrights being violated?

I make musical instruments. They have faceplates. I've had an unfortunate development, I have lost most of my artwork files. I sent letter to my facpllate company asking them to send me my original pdf's. They did and I can see them in Acrobat, but they've pword protected them so I can't 'get' to the files, which makes them useless to me. This is my art. If nothing else, my company logo is on them. I paid a $30 processing fee for them to generate the files they are now holding as their own. I don't have copyrights taken out on these, but I know that only effects the amount of punitive which could be rewarded, that copyright is automatic. I believe this is willful infringement.
