I'm playing Aveyond 1 and my attack rating is 0, even though I'm level 9, how do I raise attack?

My Attack, Defense, and Resistance are all zero. However, my Strength, Dexterity, Agility, and Intelligence are all in the 40's. How do I raise the first three skills? Any time I attack something I only get one (or less) hit point. Please help me solve this problem. Lars getting better hit points is driving me nuts!
