Baby lizard found in houseplant. What to feed it?

Found a baby lizard (possibly just hatched) in a houseplant. Can't identify it but it's definitely not native to these parts (North East US). Best way to care for/feed it? We've already set him up with moist soil, plants, logs, rocks and a pool of water. Added some soil from the compost heap to his makeshift home, hoping that he'd eat some baby worms. Also added a few dead bugs. Hoping he/she is tropical as opposed to desert. Any other advice?
