Anyone hear of recent firearm's confiions in California?

My friend owns a gun shop and tomorrow he is processing the transfer of a man's firearms to his son. It seems the DOJ (don't know if it's California DOJ or federal) raided his house at 2am this morning and confied his firearms because he had suffered from stress after his service in Vietnam. They are going to allow him to transfer them to his son, but the DOJ is delivering them to the shop at 11am tomorrow. I'm going to help with the paperwork so I'll find out more particulars tomorrow. But my question tonight is has anyone else heard of this happening?
